Description: The Catholic Conference of Kentucky (CCK), located in Frankfort, is the official public policy agency of Kentucky’s four Roman Catholic Dioceses. Its mission is to represent the Church and the state’s Catholic Bishops to elected officials and government agencies at the local, state, and national levels.The Policy Analyst for Education (PAE) must be a committed Catholic who is knowledgeable of the teachings of the Catholic Church. The PAE is under the supervision of, works closely with, and reports on all activities to the Executive Director. The PAE deals effectively with diocesan Catholic school superintendents and their staff, state and local educational authorities, legislators and their staff, and the general public. The job requires flexibility as to management, hours and travel.

The PAE serves as a professional resource person for the Catholic Conference of Kentucky in education matters; coordinates, monitors and advocates issues relating to governmental programs affecting Kentucky Catholic schools, their administrators, faculty and pupils; represents Catholic education at the state level in Kentucky and in coordination with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) at the federal level; represents CCK with organizations and coalitions representing non-public schools; maintains liaison with various school-choice organizations and special needs groups; and serves as a liaison between the Kentucky Department of Education and Kentucky Catholic schools in areas affecting Catholic schools, teachers and students.

Qualifications: Committed Catholic who is conversant with Catholic Social Teaching, especially as it relates to Catholic Education Ministry. Professes a philosophy in harmony with the Catholic Conference of Kentucky • Master’s Degree in education or related field (or its equivalent) • Experience within the education field (teaching, counseling, academic advising, etc.) • Knowledge of the legislative process and ability to promote and advocate for Catholic education in the public policy arena • Ability to work with individuals and groups and convey Church positions to the executive and legislative branches of state government and private organizations. • Accepts direction and supportive assistance from CCK leadership • Possess good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to capture the essence of discussions in a concise and succinct style • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
