I am raising my great grandson Danny. He is 12 years old. Danny came to live with me at 9 months old after falling from a three story building. Danny had at least 8 brain surgeries to treat his injuries.
After several crazy and scary years, it was time for Danny to start school. I asked myself, “Where do I send my boy with his little helmet on and all the other issues he has both physically and emotionally?” He was scared and so was I.
I’m not Catholic, but after much deliberation I decided to send him to a small Catholic school in Bellevue, Kentucky. It seemed so crazy with no job and a very limited income. But they welcomed us in and helped with tuition. This school supported Danny through all of his issues.
This was the best decision that I had ever made. Danny is now 12 and going into 7th grade. He is such a great kid . I’m so thankful to the Catholic school system and God for the opportunity that we were given. We are so blessed to have found a way to get Danny a high quality education at a place where he knows that he is welcome and loved regardless of income, appearance or where he was from.
